Amy Dianne Hurn was born in Greenville, Texas on August 31st, 1970. She grew up in East Tawakoni, Texas until the 5th grade, and then moved with her family to Bedford, Texas, where she graduated from Trinity High School in Euless. Her family then moved back to East Tawakoni, where she attended East Texas State University and received her certification to teach elementary and middle school. She always preferred the challenge of middle school students and stayed with them.
She left her job in 2022 to care for her grandfather, who had been hospitalized, and then her mother, who had been hospitalized. Late in 2022, she began to feel sick. Her medical caretaker referred her to a cancer specialist, but she never made it there.
The Holy Spirit of God resided in her because she had asked the Lord, Jesus Christ, to come into her heart and to direct her life at age 5. She was baptized at Emory Baptist Church soon after she had leaped toward the pastor at his calling without her parents realizing that she wanted to do that. At the moment of her death, she was with her Lord Jesus in Heaven.
She was preceded in death by her father, C.P. Hurn, Jr. Survivors include her mother, Susan Hurn, her sister, Jennifer Mitchell, and her grandfather, Vernon “Andy” Van Asperen, whom she called Dandad. At the time of her death, she was still caring for him at his home.
