Barbara Clifton, beloved Co-Owner of True Value in Emory, born on December 13, 1929, in her hometown of Emory, TX, peacefully entered the Lord's arms surrounded by her loving family in Point, TX on October 17, 2023.
Barbara was a woman who exuded love and warmth. Her greatest joy came from her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids, who she cherished as her biggest blessings. She had a deep love for them that was infectious to all those around her.
In her younger years, Barbara could often be found tending to her yard with passion and dedication. Her green thumb made her yard a beautiful oasis that brought joy to anyone who laid eyes upon it. However, it wasn't just her love for gardening that made Barbara remarkable. Her culinary skills were exceptional as well. Family gatherings were never complete without Barbara's famous fried chicken. It was a dish that could never be recreated or competed against - a true testament to her unparalleled talent in the kitchen.
Those who knew Barbara knew that she had an adventurous side as well. She loved making mischief with her best friend going to the boats - always finding ways to have fun and create unforgettable memories together.
Barbara had a wide range of hobbies and interests that brought joy to her life. From tending to her beloved azaleas in the yard to engaging in bead work, particularly making Christmas stockings, she found solace and creativity in these activities. Game nights were also a highlight for Barbara as she would gather with friends for spirited rounds of dominoes or cards. During the Christmas holidays, she would delight in baking delicious treats and spreading joy to her loved ones through her culinary creations.
Beyond her personal pursuits, Barbara took immense pride in being "Nana" to her family. It was a title she cherished and wore with honor. Additionally, she played an integral role in the renovations of the Emory Courthouse, leaving a lasting impact on her community. As an active member of the Emory Methodist Church, Barbara dedicated herself to assisting in any way she could to support the congregation and their mission. Her selflessness and willingness to help others made her truly beloved by the community she served.
Preceded in death by her mother and father Emogene and Jim Welton Nabors, husband Raymond Clifton, brother Billy Nabors, and son Phillipp Haupt.
Barbara's kind and loving nature will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her legacy as a devoted family member and community pillar will live on forever in the hearts of those whose lives were touched by her presence.
