Betty Moseley

January 29, 1933 — April 13, 2020

Betty Lou Moseley, 87, of Point, Texas passed away on April 13, 2020, after a lengthy illness. She was born on January 29, 1933 in Point to the parentage of Raymond Clifford and Ida Mae Cooper Robinson. She was raised in Point and attended school there. Basketball was her favorite activity as she played against many Rains County opponents. She graduated from Point High School in 1952 and was extremely proud of being a Point High School Panther.

Betty married Walter Floyd Moseley on August 23, 1952 in Tyler, Texas. They moved to Greenville, and lived there briefly until returning to Point to live and start a family with the birth of their first child in 1953. Lana Gail was loved and raised in the most loving environment. Soon they welcomed five years later a precious little boy that was called Bubba. Betty had what she always wanted...a boy and a girl. She was so happy being a mother. She was the best mother that anyone could ever hope to have. Unfortunately, tragedy struck five years after Betty gave birth to Bubba when he lost his short, sweet, little, life to acute Leukemia in 1965. Coping with loss and grief she persevered and was soon blessed in 1968 with a beautiful, brand new, bouncing, baby boy named Greg who became the joy of her life.

Betty and Walter Floyd have been married 67 years. She worked the entirety of those years until 2015 when she became ill and was hospitalized for kidney problems. Very early in her life she began employment with the First State Bank of Point. She completed over 30 years of service to the bank until its closure in 1992. Betty advanced through the ranks from Teller, Vice President, Bank Cashier and was a member of the Board of Directors.

In 1992, Betty was asked to come to work at Emory Food Mart where she worked in the Cashier Office and managed the markets finances and payrolls. She loved working and helping people. It was her life's work.

Betty was a member of the Point United Methodist Church for over forty years. She was also a long time member of The Eastern Star, Point Ladies Civic Club and First United Methodist Church Ladies Sunday School Class. She loved her faith, her family and her work. She was kind, generous, loving, respectful, and the closest to perfect that a wife and mother could be. Betty never met a stranger, she radiated God's love wherever she went and to whomever she met. She sought people to serve and assist. She was loved by so many people in this area and she will truly be missed. We take comfort in knowing that she's with her Heavenly Father, Bubba and her Mother and Dad. We are thankful to know that we will see her again soon.
