We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved mother, Bobbye Nell Jones Cheek Elkins,
who has returned to her eternal home with our Lord. She lived a life dedicated to God and was a shining example of faith, hope, and love to all who knew her.
Born in Emory Texas on November 11, 1930, to Judge William Arthur Jones and Lessie Levisie
Adams Jones, Bobbye was raised with strong religious values that she carried
with her throughout her life. She was a devout Southern Baptist, finding
comfort and guidance in her faith during life's joys and challenges.
She married Brevard Cheek on September 9, 1950, in Rains County, TX, and moved to
Paso Robles, CA while Brevard received military training, later moving to Alaska
for his military service. After military service, they moved to Dallas, Texas, and
later relocated to Tyler, Texas where they had 2 children, Sheryl and David.
Late in life, Bobbye married Jimmie Elkins and continued to reside in Tyler.
She retired from Tyler Weathermakers where she worked in accounting for over 30
years. She enjoyed daily walks, cooking, reading, and puzzles. She traveled
often with friends and family and enjoyed numerous trips and time spent with
her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed singing in the senior choir at
Green Acres Baptist Church and cherished the many trips they enjoyed.
Bobbye was a devoted wife and mother, who always put her family first. She provided
unwavering love, support, and guidance to her children, grandchildren, and
great-grandchildren. Her kindness and generosity touched the lives of all who
knew her, and she will be deeply missed.
During her lifetime, Bobbye lived according to the teachings of her faith, dedicating
herself to serving others and spreading love and kindness wherever she went.
She will always be remembered for her unwavering faith and her dedication to
living a life that honored God.
As we mourn the loss of Bobbye, we take comfort in the knowledge that she is now
reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her and are at peace in the
arms of our Lord. We will honor her memory by continuing to live our lives in
accordance with the faith and values that she held so dear.
She is survived by her daughter, son, nieces and nephews, and numerous grandchildren
and great-grandchildren.
