Catherine Ely

Catherine French Ely, age 99, of Emory, passed away Friday, July 3, 2015, at her home.

Funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, July 7, 2015, 12 Noon at the Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Dougherty Cemetery. Bro. Billy Smith will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at 11:00 AM at the Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel.

Catherine was born on August 29, 1915, at Teague, to Pinkney Russell and Mary Elizabeth Hornbuckle French. She married Oscar Ely in Rockwall on December 21, 1946. They were owners and operators of a used car lot in Emory. She was a member of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include: Sister: Gladys Cutler of Emory; Niece: LaVerne Robbins of Emory; Nephew Robert French, and wife, Barbara of Lorena; Step-brother: Calvin Prowell, and wife, Lillian of Mexia; 2 Grandsons: Johnny Ely, and wife, Nelda and Shane Ely, and wife, Jennifer, 3 Great-grandsons: Johnny Ely, Jr. Christopher Ely, and Braxton Ely; Great-granddaughter: Brandi Ely; Great-great-granddaughter: Miss Ellie Ely; Sister-in-law: Helen Collins; A host of other loving family and friends.
