Charles "Charlie" Marion Bell Jr.

November 4, 1955 — March 23, 2025

Emory

One of the greatest souls was lost to us on March 23, 2025 as Charles (Charlie) Marion Bell, Jr. (69) passed away at Christus Mother Francis hospital in Tyler, Tx. He will always be remembered as a hero to us all in his life and in his death, as he was an organ donor and saved and helped countless others. He was a very loving son, brother, father, and uncle. He was the rock of the family, and will always be remembered as a hero to us all.

He was born on November 4, 1955 in Greenwood, MS to Charles Marion Bell, Sr. and Betty Nell Bell (Wilkinson – Ancheta). He attended Greenville High School and the University of Texas, Austin. He was a hard-working man and started several entrepreneurial businesses before retiring from the Post Office of Wood and Rains Counties. He was exceptionally good as a ‘handy man’ around the house. Perhaps his most beloved trait was that he was always willing to help out when anyone was in need. He was loved by all who had the pleasure of meeting him. Some of his favorite things were home improvements, fishing, music, business finance, politics, golf, BBQing, and sports; him being an avid Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and Dallas Mavericks fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Randy Alan Nowell, sister Jennifer Ruth Grady, and brother-in-law Anthony Grady. He is survived by daughter Sara McCarthy and son-in-law Sid McCarthy, brother Mike Bell and sister-in-law Lorraine Bell, brother Richard Nowell, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. We all loved Charlie, and he will be profoundly missed.

Special thanks to the doctors and staff at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, Southwest Transplant Alliance, Palliative Care, and Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home for their professional and sincere care during our time of need.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Southwest Transplant Alliance, and please consider signing up to be an organ donor.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at a later date.
