David Wayne Evans, a man who loved life and was fiercely protective of the ones he held dear, passed away on March 14, 2024. Born in Texas City, Texas to Jerry and Grace Evans in 1958, David's journey came to a peaceful end in his home. Throughout his time on this earth, he left an indelible mark on all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Described as a masterful musician, he had a deep passion for music, mastering all kinds of instruments. David had a way of bringing light and laughter into any room.  His personality shone through as he charmed everyone with his wit and humor. Beyond his talent for music, David was a man of many interests.  Whether he was capturing moments through photography or enjoying the tranquility of the lake on a boat, David found joy in every endeavor.

His adventurous spirit led him to explore the open road on motorcycles, engage in horseback riding, and conquer terrain on ATVs. Additionally, David dedicated six years of his life to serving in the Navy, showcasing his commitment to something larger than himself.

One of David's proudest accomplishments was being a loving husband and father, and an unwavering advocate for the community he called home for the last 18 years – Rains County. He served 2 terms on the City Council, his impact resonates far and wide, touching the lives of many with his generosity and kindness.

David is survived by his wife, Julie Evans; mother, Grace Evans of Nacogdoches; children, Ken Dewayne Starnes, Jason Thomas Starnes, and Jeremy David Evans; sister, Danna Serrano and Joseph of Austin, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Jerry Evans, and grandparents.
