A Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Wilson Orwosky Funeral Home. Mrs. Altom passed away in Plano, Texas on Sunday, February 19, 2023, surrounded by family.

Dolores was born on August 15, 1937, in Emory, TX, to C.B. and Alean Meyer. After graduating high school in Irving, TX, she met and married James David Altom, and together, they raised three sons. They moved more than twenty times, living in four states plus Kuwait and loved to travel the U.S. and Europe. She was a beloved wife of 66 years, until James’ passing.

Dolores enjoyed music, especially live performances from Elvis Presley to Neal McCoy, watching Mollie B’s Polka Party and was a marathon shopper. Whatever she was doing, her whistling tune followed wherever she went. Dolores had a servant nature about her. She loved having visitors, long phone calls and conversing with everyone she met. She was always the first to care for others and the last to sit at the table for one of her excellent home-cooked meals. Nobody left her home hungry, without a big hug or a long goodbye. Her greatest joy was being a mother, nanny and aunt D.

Mrs. Altom is survived by sons Mike Altom of Emory, Tim Altom and wife Barbara of Irving, and daughter-in-law Cathy Altom of McKinney; grandchildren, Ben and Mary Altom, Jacob and Sara Altom, Michael and Joy Altom, Clay Altom, Jeana Altom, and Audrey Altom; great-grandchildren, Jaxon Altom, Lily Altom, Owen Altom, Connor Longley; brother John and wife Rita Meyer, sister Linda Webb, brother-in-law, Harlan Wilhelm and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Dolores is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; son, Patrick Altom; and grandson, Layne Pugh.
