A graveside service will be held for Doris “Cooke” Giles on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Dougherty  Cemetery in Emory, Texas at 11AM.

Doris "Cooke" Giles, born on December 11, 1943, departed this world on January 27, 2025, leaving behind memories that will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who knew her. A proud graduate of Rains County High School, Doris exemplified kindness and compassion throughout her life, touching the lives of many in her community.

In the 1960s, Doris and her husband embarked on numerous adventures across the country for his job, a journey that fostered her love for travel and exploration. With a spirit as vibrant as the places she visited, Doris embraced every experience, collecting knick-knacks and treasures that reflected her joyful personality.

Her unwavering kindness did not stop at her family; Doris was known for her selflessness and willingness to help others, even strangers. A testament to her incredible character is the time she dropped everything to assist a family looking for their missing child. She may not have known them personally, but for Doris, lending a hand to those in need was part of who she was.

Doris was a devoted mother, actively involved in the PTA and supporting her children's sports teams. Her dedication to her family was evident, and she was the best mom anyone could ever ask for. She took immense pride in their accomplishments and worked tirelessly to create a loving and supportive home.

A deeply spiritual woman, Doris found joy in connecting with the world around her. One of her proudest moments was witnessing the majestic beauty of the Grand Canyon, an experience she treasured and often spoke about with awe and wonder.

As we remember Doris "Cooke" Giles, let us carry forward the lessons she taught us about kindness, compassion, and the importance of being there for one another. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched with her remarkable spirit. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

She is survived by her children, Jeff Giles and Emily, Jason Giles and Tabitha, Jonathan Giles and Amber, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous cousins. 

Doris is preceded in death by her parents, Thurman D. Cooke and Annie R. Cooke (Spradling); husband, Lloyd E. Giles and numerous cousins.
