Edward Burns Jr.

Funeral services for Edward D. Burns Jr., age 88, of Emory, Texas will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 5, 2024, at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Chapel in Emory.  Brother Jimmy Jarrett and Brother Robert Burns will be officiating.  The visitation will be at 10:00 a.m., on Monday.

Edward passed away on Tuesday Evening, January 30, 2024, at Baylor Scott and White (Lake Pointe) in Rowlett, Texas.  He was born on May 9, 1935, in Emory, the son of Edward Burns Sr. and Edith O’Rear.  He attended school in Emory as well.  

Edward married Mary Ann Harvey on August 28, 1954, in Dallas.  They enjoyed 63 years of marriage.  He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Emory.  During his working career,  he worked for Sabine River Authority of Texas for 29 years and retired on May 2, 1997.

He is survived by two sons, Edward Burns (Eddie) and wife, Janice of Emory, and Ronnie Burns and wife, Penny of Point; grandchildren, Tracy Burns and wife, Rachel of Lone Oak, Sarah Ivie and husband, Ryan of Emory, Rachel Blount and husband, Jeremy of Sulphur Springs; great-grandchildren, Jaycee Ivie, Addyson Ivie and Jolie Blount; sisters, Helen Rigby of Emory and Margaret Burns of Rockwall, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Edward is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert Burns, James Burns and Joe Burns.
