Elma Jean “Jeanne” Ely Sprague, beloved by many and known for her friendly nature, passed away on July 19, 2024 in Emory, Texas. She was born January 23, 1943, to William Andrew Buyher and Erma Jewell Stuart Buyher, in Canton, Texas.
A Memorial Service to honor and celebrate Jeanne’s life will be held on August 10, 2024, at Emory Baptist Church at 10:00 AM.
In her professional and personal life, Jeanne wore many hats with grace and skill. She graduated from Paris Jr. College and went on to be a registered nurse whose nurturing spirit brought comfort to countless individuals in need. She then went on to work at E-Systems, showcasing her talent and dedication to her work. In her youth, she dabbled in the art of hairstyling, adding flair and beauty to those around her. It was no surprise that she even held an A & P license - a testament to her versatility and fearless spirit.
Jeanne’s love and need for adventure extended beyond her professional life; she found solace and joy in her horses and excelled in barrel racing. In her downtime she loved spending leisurely evenings with friends and family on the back porch, savoring drinks and each other's company.
Raised in a community where values like kindness, love, and friendliness were held dear, Jeanne embodied these qualities effortlessly. She was known for her adventurous nature, always seeking new experiences and embracing challenges with a smile. Her presence lit up any room she entered, radiating warmth and positivity to all.
She is survived by her sons, Bryan Ely and his wife Staci Ely, Leon Ely and his wife Christy Ely; grandchildren, Logan Ely, Lyle Ely, Nikki Farrar, Courtney Brust, Colt Brust, Callie Burch, Garrett Chaney, Ryon Chaney, Britni Buck, Bailey Ramsey, Bethany Moran, Jesse Oswalt, Elijah Brown; great-grandchildren, Benni Brust, Leaton Ely, Franklin Burch Jeremy Burch, Stevie Chaney, Kennedy Chaney, Knox Oswalt, Beckett Oswalt, Arthur Moran. Jeanne will be missed most of all by her loyal companion and four-legged best friend, Dottie.
In our hearts and minds, Elma “Jeanne” Ely Sprague will forever remain a beacon of kindness and love. May she rest in peace knowing she was cherished by many.
