Elvira Carreño, a beloved homemaker and pillar of her family, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones on December 31, 2023. She was born on May 18, 1961, in San Jose Agua Azul, GTO, Mexico. Elvira's love for family was unmatched, defining her as a devoted mother, and grandmother.

Known to be the strongest woman many had ever encountered, Elvira will be remembered for her selfless nature. Her unwavering dedication to caring for her family leaves behind an everlasting impact. Elvira's warm presence and nurturing spirit ensured that her loved ones were always well taken care of.

In addition to being a dedicated homemaker, Elvira possessed exceptional culinary skills - earning the title of the best cook anywhere. Her ability to create delicious meals brought joy and comfort to countless gatherings over the years.

Elvira took pride in her garden, which flourished under her careful tending. With a green thumb and devotion to nature, she cultivated a beautiful oasis that brought tranquility to all those who stepped foot within its boundaries. Her garden served as a testament to her commitment and perseverance.

Another skill that showcased Elvira's creativity was her talent in creating handmade clothes. Through intricate stitching and attention to detail, she transformed fabric into wearable works of art.

Remarkably, what stood out about Elvira was how she consistently placed the needs of others above her own. Whether it was prioritizing family events or offering a lending hand during difficult times, she embraced every opportunity to help others with open arms.

Elvira is survived by her sons, Mario Hermenegildo Jr. and wife, Blanca of Emory, Jose de Jesus Hermenegildo of Point, and Juan Hermenegildo and wife Jennifer of Blossom; grandchildren, Adamaris Renteria, Jose Bellot, Virginia Bellot, Jasmin Hermenegildo, Gabriela Hermenegildo, and Vicente Hermenegildo; Five brothers and five sisters.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Mario Hermenegildo Sr.; parents, Anisteto Carreño and Maria de Jesus Escamilla and three brothers.


To honor the life and legacy of Elvira Carreño, visitation will take place at St John's Catholic Church located at 551 FM 2795 in Emory, Texas on January 4, 2024, from 4:00 PM to sunrise. A Mass will follow at the same location on January 5, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Elvira will be laid to rest during an interment ceremony at Prospect Cemetery in Emory, Texas at 1:00 PM on the same day.

Elvira Carreño will forever be cherished and missed by her family, friends, and all those who had the privilege to know her. May her memory serve as a reminder of the love, strength, and selflessness that she embodied throughout her remarkable life.
