Mrs. Hays passed away early Wednesday morning, January 7, 2015 at the Royce City Health and Rehab Center. She was born, January 21, 1918, in Lone Oak, to Enoch E. and Leona Jones Nelson. She married William Hubert Hays, in Lone Oak, on July 29, 1938, he preceded her in death in 1958.
She was a very active member of the Emory Baptist Church and the Fidelis Sunday School Class. She worked in the children's nursery at the church for 30+ years. She also attended Women's Missionary Union, an organization for women that focused on church missions. She loved to garden vegetables and flowers and she loved anything chocolate!
Emogene didn't sing but would hum. The kids asked why she hummed all the time- she was content. That's the one word that best describes her..."Content". 1 Timothy 6:6-7 "Godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain that we can take nothing out of it". Emogene thought the only translation she could use was the Old King James and she did not write in her bible!
