Ernie Eugene Stacy Jr, born on January 13, 1944, in Red Bay, Alabama, passed away peacefully at the age of 79 on June 2, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones in Point, Texas.

Ernie was a lifelong truck driver and retired from Overnite Transportation. His dedication for being a truck driver left an unforgettable impression on everyone he met. Ernie's warm personality and affectionate temperament made him popular among all of his family.

In addition to his successful career as a truck driver, Ernie was also proud to have served in the army. He was stationed for a time in Korea. His dedication to serving his country was appreciated by those who knew him; Ernie was often lauded for his bravery and courage.

When Ernie wasn't behind the wheel or serving his nation, he was always looking for ways to enjoy life with his family. Ernie was often surrounded by his kids, grand kids and great grandchildren. Papa’s house was a favorite destination for all the kids. No was not word Papa ever said to them.

He leaves behind many cherished memories among a community of family members and friends which includes his brother James Stacy, his daughters; Laurie Hendricks of Point, Tx, Tammy Hooten and husband Marty of Point, Tx, his sons; Jeffery Stacy of Point, Tx, Mathew Portman and wife Ashley of McKinney, Tx; grandchildren, Sara Medlin and husband Jason Puryear of Greenville, Tx; Jessica Thompson and husband Kyle of Evans, Ga; Taylor Medlin and husband Bryan Harris of Point, Tx; Devyn Dowdle and husband Brandon of Killeen, Tx; Jordan Hooten of Austin, Tx Andrew Stacy-Medlin and girlfriend Becca of Greenville, Tx; Sloane Portman and Knox Portman of Mckinney, great grandchildren; Aiden Puryear, Michael Puryear, Allie Puryear, Kane Puryear, Shelby Brown, Lincoln Brown, Aiden Thompson, AJ Harris, DJ Harris , Karter Harris, Willow Sharp, Caspian Sharp and Ilia Sharp. Ernie also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his loving mother and father; brothers Bobby Martin, Charles Martin and Wayne Stacy, and his sister Diane Portman.

Although Ernie will be missed dearly by everyone who knew him, his legacy will remain forever. Ernie's warmth and love for family created an unbreakable bond that will continue to thrive. His spirit will live on through every life he touched.
