Gary Bishop

Gary Michael Bishop, age 62, of Emory, passed away suddenly, early Monday morning, August 12, 2019.

Funeral service will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 15, 2019, at Emory Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Elm Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening 6:00-8:00 PM at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel in Emory.

Gary Michael Bishop was born in Sulphur Springs, on March 22, 1957, to the parentage of Marshall and Mary Ola Asbill Bishop. He followed the Lord in baptism at around the age of 10, in a stock pond in Emory. He has been a lifetime member of Elm Baptist Church. Gary graduated from Rains High School Class of 1975, where he loved to play football. He went on to take two years of classes at Tyler Junior College. Gary worked hard as a dairyman for 20+ years. On January 10, 2006, he married Teresa Kay Lee in Emory. He then worked and retired after 20 years as County Commissioner for Rains County Precinct 3. And for the last six years he has driven a truck for Gaston Sanitation. Gary loved his family more than anything.

Wife: Kay Bishop of Emory

Sister: Hilda Bishop Ellison and husband Rick of Emory

Brother: Homer Bishop and wife Kathy of Richmond.

Daughter: Lacey Boyd and husband Chuck, currently stationed in Italy

Son: Lyndon Bishop of Middletown, CT

Children: Jamie Hailey; Chris Wright, and wife Michelle; and Ashley Wright

Grandchildren: Taylor, Kayte, Riley, C.J., Rylee, Tinsley, Hays, and Keaton

Great-granddaughter: Brooklynn
