Mary Hazel Morrow Grubb, age 92, passed away on January 7, 2024, in Emory, TX. Her Service will be at Emory Baptist Church on Friday, January 12, at 2:00 performed by Dr. Richard Piles with a visitation the hour prior at 1:00.
Hazel was born on June 8, 1931, to John W. Morrow and Viola (Childers) Morrow. She graduated from Emory High School in 1948 as the Salutatorian. She moved to Dallas with her parents and began work at an insurance company. She later met Norman E. Grubb and married him on July 7, 1951. They lived in Dallas and Carrollton. Together they had two children: Gloria and Randall.
Throughout the years Hazel worked as a typist and a bookkeeper for several companies including Taylor Publishing and Friendly Chevrolet. Her favorite job was her last job, where she worked for a veterinarian. You could often find her working with a dog at her feet and a cat curled up in her file box.
After retirement she and Norman moved to the family farm in Emory. She enjoyed gardening and raising cows. After Norman died in 2006, Hazel joined Emory Baptist Church. She served as President of TEL for 5 years and loved being with the ladies of the Ruth Class. She was a Christian through and through.
Hazel leaves behind her daughter, Gloria Smith; son, Randall Grubb; granddaughters, Katherine Burrow and husband Doug, and Jennifer Minney and husband Ryan; great grandchildren, Kayleigh Cantrell and fiancé Cody Sheffield, Christopher Allen, Gareth Allen, Timothy Minney and Tyler Minney; great great grandchildren, Wrenleigh Sheffield and Braxton Sheffield.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and her brother, Glen Morrow.
