Helen Ely Collins, of Fort Worth, TX passed away in Fort Worth, on January 4, 2018, at the age of 94.
She was born September 1, 1923, in Point, TX to John Thomas and Annie Bell Coats Ely. She had two sisters and seven brothers.
Helen was married to Cleveland Collins, also of Point, for 61 years, and they had one son, Gene Collins.
They moved to Long Beach, California in 1944 where Helen worked at Douglas Aircraft. The family moved to Fort Worth in 1951, where she worked at General Dynamics until 1980. After retiring to their farm in Mena, Arkansas, Helen loved gardening, canning, baking and cooking for her friends and family. She also loved listening to bluegrass music and playing upright bass. Her sense of humor, beauty, and thoughtfulness were genuine gifts to her loved ones.
Serving as Pallbearers: Wesley Ely, Scott Ely, Eugene Kelley, Patrick Fuqua, Mike Lambright, and Daryle Hester;
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Bill Bates, Butch Hester, and Randy Kelley.
Survivors include:
Son, Gene Collins and wife Kim; granddaughters, ThyThy Fuqua and husband Patrick; Kathy Nguyen; great-great-grandson, Tap Fuqua;
and numerous other loving family and friends;
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, seven brothers, and two sisters
