James Calhoun

PLEASE RESPECT THE GUIDLINES SET FORTH FOR OUR TOWN, COMMUNITY, AND STATE THAT IS INTENDED TO HELP ELIMINATE THIS DEADLY PESTILENCE THAT HAS INVADED OUR WORLD. THE FAMILY REGRETS NOT BEING ABLE TO RECEIVE THEIR FRIENDS AT THIS MOST GRIEVOUS TIME. HOWEVER, THERE WILL BE A MEMORIAL GATHERING AT RANDY'S HOUSE FOR ALL THE FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEMBERS WHO WERE UNABLE TO ATTEND THE VISITATION AND OR FUNERAL SERVICE. THIS WILL BE A TIME TO COME AND HONOR JAMES CALHOUN'S LIFE...AND REMEMBER HIS LEGACY.

THE FAMILY REQUESTS THE FUNERAL SERVICE, TO BE PRIVATE, AS WELL WITH IMMEDIATE FAMILY ONLY... (CHILDREN, GRANDCHILDREN, AND GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN ONLY PLEASE)

The service for James Wittie Calhoun will be held Monday, March 30, 2020 at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Chapel. Bro. Billy Smith will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Greenview Cemetery.

James Wittie Calhoun, age 93, of Emory, passed away Wednesday evening, March 25, 2020, at U.T. Health in Quitman. James was born in Gatesville, TX on April 22, 1926 to Joseph Pierce and Minnie Earl Wittie Calhoun.

He married Jossie Mae Jennings on December 19, 1955 in Dallas. James was a truck driver for Kansas City Southern Railroad. He retired on January 1, 1985 after working there approximately 39 years. He was also a farmer from 1972 until he was unable to work any longer. He was approximately 87 years old the last time he raked hay with Randy. Years ago James enjoyed working as a volunteer fireman in Balch Springs. He served on the South Rains County Water Board for many years.

He was a Christian and of the Baptist faith and his favorite tree was the dogwood tree with their beautiful blooms in springtime.

Pallbearers include: Randy James Calhoun; D.J. Bruce; Darrin Gowen; Randy Calhoun, Tyler Clark and Richard Easley
Honorary Pallbearer: James Charles Abercrombie

Survivors include:
Son: Randy D. Calhoun of Emory
Daughters: Rita Gray, and husband, Paul, of Greenwood AR, Reva Calhoun of Arlington, and Robbie Sue Calhoun of Lubbock
Step-son: James Charles Abercrombie, and wife, Jeanne Marie, of Garland
Sister: Joyce Ritchie of Houston
Special Friend: Nell Box of Quitman
Grandchildren: 15
Great-grandchildren: 20
Great-great-grandchildren: 9
A host of other loving family and friends
