James Lee Owens of Point, affectionately known as "Hebe," by those who knew him, passed away on September 2, 2024, in Point, Texas. Born on August 20, 1966, to Robert Leland Owens and Betty Jean Cooper.
A dedicated professional, James worked as a contractor, where he served as the lead installer on various construction sites. To James—time was irrelevant; he lived his life according to his own schedule and in his distinctive style, as he famously marched to the beat of his own drum.
Beyond his career, James found joy in a variety of passions. He was a devoted fan of the band "KISS" and the Dallas Cowboys. An advocate for the great outdoors, he appreciated nature and made it a point to cherish its beauty whenever possible.
James will be remembered fondly for his kindness, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. He was know as a charmer; a lover, not a fighter.
His passing is felt deeply by all who knew him, and he will be sorely missed. He is survived by his son, Cristopher James Sample and wife Amber; grandchildren, Autumn and Jaxson Sample; sister, Donna Berry and husband Dale; brother, Mark Owens; friends, Rick and Carol Barber, James and Shannon Houge, Dennis Hoffman, Jorge Diaz, Kevin Scott and Mark Owens
As we remember James Lee Owens, we celebrate a life well-lived—filled with laughter, music, the outdoors and the love of good friends.
