Funeral services for Janis Cotton will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021, at 2:00 pm at Emory Assembly of God Church with Montie Parker officiating. Interment will follow at Smyrna Cemetery in Emory. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 7, 6:00 -8:00 pm at Wilson-Orwosky Chapel. Pallbearers are Jesse Oswalt, Elijah Brown, Bryan Ely, Josh Buck, Brad Northcutt, Brandon Northcutt, Dakota Groves and Eric Hickman.
Janis Lee Northcutt Cotton, 74, of Emory, was born August 8, 1947, to Alvin Lavon Northcutt and Zelma Lee Jennings in Dallas, Texas. She married Dickie Wayne Cotton on November 10, 1972. They cherished 21 years together before he passed in 1994. Janis passed at home, surrounded by her family, on October 4, 2021. She was a teacher and aide for 14+ years.
She is survived by her daughter, Staci Lynn Ely and husband Bryan; daughter Melissa Cotton; grandchildren, Britni Lynn Buck and husband Joshua, Bailey J. Ramsey and husband Robby, Bethany Rae-Lyn Moran and husband Tyler, Jesse D.W. Oswalt and wife Jordyn, Elijah Seth Brown, Eric William Hickman, Levi Alexander Hickman, Gabriel Nicole Hickman; great-grandchildren, Knox Reed Oswalt, Beckett Lane Oswalt, Jayden Hickman, Emily Page, Jacqueline Grace Brumit; sisters, Ann Jarrett and Pam Henington; brothers, Joe Northcutt and Johnny Mac Northcutt.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents.
In lieu of flowers, please donate money that will go towards free admission towards the first boys/girls home district game. Y’all know Babe loved the Rains Wildcats and took money at the gate for many years. It would tickle her to pieces for the community to attend the game in her honor.
