JC Jones, known to many as “Catfish Jones” passed away on May 19, 2023, at his home in Emory, TX. He was born in Bristol, TX, on October 8, 1934, to Robert L. Jones and Loskie M. Stilwell. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sandy Jones, his son Jeff Jones and wife Laurie, grandsons Colin and Connor Jones, great-granddaughter Paislee Jones, daughter-in-law Sue Jones, widow of Jim Jones, sister Linda Lewis, widow of Roy Lewis, nephews Ronnie Jones and Kyle Lewis, nieces Renee Davis and Carol Wilcox.
JC was preceded in death by both parents, his youngest son Joel Jones, his oldest son Jim Jones, brothers Bobby Jones and wife Earlene, Roland Jones and wife Marian, his youngest sister Becky Jones, niece Gail Radcliff, and nephew Kevin Lewis.
JC was an electrician by trade. Two of his first jobs were working on the set of the movie Bonnie and Clyde and then building Town East Mall. He worked for Redden Electric in Dallas, and after a few years, moved on to work the rest of his career as a Master Electrician with Hargrove Electric in Dallas where a great deal of his work was in commercial construction such as Marriott hotels and Texas Stadium sky-boxes. He was a member of IBEW Local 20 for 67 years.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge and Masonic Lodge when he lived and worked in Dallas.
JC loved fishing, gardening, and in his early years, hunting. He built two of the homes in which he lived, and he enjoyed puttering in his shop and building things around the homestead. Wood carving was something he enjoyed very much.
JC and Sandy were married in Winona, TX, on December 15, 1986. They enjoyed the home JC built there for eleven years, and then enjoyed eight years of traveling the United States in an RV before JC’s back pain made it necessary for him to stop traveling.
