Graveside service for Jeanette Felton Fletcher, age 90, of Eagle Pass, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Emory City Cemetery with Brother Robert Burns officiating.
Jeanette Felton Fletcher of Eagle Pass, Texas passed away on February 16, 2021 at the age of 90. She was born June 30, 1930 in Emory, Texas to Annie B Dockery and James Merida Felton. Jeanette, the youngest of 10 children, grew up in Emory, graduating as Valedictorian of her senior class. Soon afterwards, she met and married Douglas Jennings Fletcher, Jr. Jeanette was a dedicated and loving wife for 63 years. She was so proud of their family, and happy with the life they built on the Texas México border. Affectionately known as “Nette”, she was the kindest, most gracious, southern lady. Always beautiful inside and out. She lived by the Golden Rule, giving and doing for others.
As her children became more independent, she began a career with Eagle Pass ISD, retiring after 26 years. Retirement allowed her to become a member of the Golden Girls Dance Troupe.
Jeanette loved cooking and baking for her family and friends. Until COVID-19, she enjoyed frequent shopping trips to Piedras Negras, occasionally stopping for lunch before returning home.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband Doug, 9 siblings Byrnece McCollum, Jack Felton, Ethelyne Felton, Willie Bob “Rastus” Felton, Imogene Felton, Charles Rex Felton, Annie Laurie Bates, Jim Felton, Buddy Kent Felton, and son in law, Carl Lee Hellums.
She is survived by son, Douglas J. Fletcher, III and wife Mary Jane, daughter Phyllis F. Hellums, grandchildren; Rebecca Fletcher and partner John Pointer, Jr., Elizabeth F. Llarena and husband Oscar, great grandchildren; Wyatt Llarena, Jonah Llarena, and very special friends; Nena Mascorro, María Mascorro, Alvaro Rodríguez, and Silvino Solarzano.
