Jessie Boyd

Jessie Barnett Boyd, age 81, of Emory, passed away Thursday,
January 14, 2016, at his home.

Memorial service is scheduled for Friday, January 22, 2016, 11:00 AM at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel in Emory. Phyllis A. Young, Funeral Director officiating.

Jessie Barnett Boyd was born in Arlington, TN on May 4, 1934, to Lewis Wesley and Modain Slaughter Boyd. He married LaNora Catheryn Davis on July 10, 1965, in Rockwall, and they were married some 50 plus years. Jessie was an honest, hard working man, who was employed as a shipping clerk and retired after 30 plus years from DeSoto Paint Company. He was also a car salesman...well, sort of...he liked to dabble in that too, because he loved going to car auctions. He enjoyed going to estate sales, junk sales, auctions, etc., and digging through things to find hidden treasures! He was one who never threw anything away...you just might need it someday! He was a true animal lover! He loved all animals...not just the dogs and cats, but the deer, chickens and...Jessie would even feed the coyotes! He loved to travel and to take the boat to the lake...many fun summer memories were made there...water-skiing, camping, fireworks, etc. Jessie also liked to watch movies, he liked westerns and Denzel Washington ones best. His pride and joy was his grandkids and great grandkids! He loved being called "Buddy" and then "Papa"...and oh how he enjoyed taking his youngest grandson, Keegan, for rides on his gator, and tractor, and also taking him out for ice cream! Everyone loved Jessie...he will be missed by all!

3 Daughters: Patty Dilbeck of Mesquite; Carolyn Gilley, (Mike) of Rowlett; and Sherry Martin, (Michael) of Emory
1 Son: Kenneth Wiley (Stephanie) of Emory
1 Sister: Helen Menetz, (Mike) of Pensacola, FL
Grandchildren: Wayne Wiley, Brian Gooch, Jeff Gooch, Stacy
DeLaGarza, Chad Warner, Craig Gilley, Jessica Gilley and Taylor Martin, Alex Andrew, Saige Wiley, and Keegan Wiley
Great-grandchildren: Numerous
