Joe Ben Cason, age 78, went to be with his Lord Friday morning, August 10, 2018.
He was in the T. Boone Pickens Hospice Center in Dallas.
Joe Ben was born Feb. 18, 1940, in Point, to the parentage of Claude and Lota Rabe Cason.
Most of his working career he worked in carpets...laying carpet, cleaning carpets, measurments
for carpets....he was just a "carpet man".
He married Lena Fern Geraldon on April 16, 1960 in Alba.
To this union was born three children.
Music was Joe Ben's life. He just loved to "pick and grin"...he wrote music, sung music,
and performed in the music field all of his life. He had a music store, called
"The Music Station" where he sold any type of musical instruments anyone wanted...
some days at the store, his friends would come by and they would have a jam
session...picking and singing!
Joe Ben usually had a guitar in his hands, picking out old songs and finding new
tunes to play...he loved playing his guitar.
With the love of music, Joe Ben had a possibly deeper love...that of his family.
He was a quiet man...not really demonstrative with his love....but everyone, children,
grandchildren and all the family knew he loved them without question...somber, quiet,
strong, always loving.
Joe Ben and his siblings, and other family played every Saturday night at the
Cotton Picking Theater. He mc'd the show...showcasing musical talent from around
the adjoining counties, as well as, singing and playing with his family.
Gospel music was most sacred to Joe Ben. He played on Sunday mornings, nights..
funerals, for any occasion that needed music at the Clarks Chapel Church of God,
where he and his family were longtime members.
Joe Ben was a dedicated Christian man who loved the Lord and His precepts.
Joe Ben Cason will be greatly missed by all who knew him!
