John "Junior" House, age 85, of Point, passed away Friday, April 7, 2017, at Legend Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Greenville.
Funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Lone Oak Assembly of God Church with Pastor Sam Calk and Bro. Homer Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in Lone Star Cemetery in Point. Visitation to be held Monday night, April 10, 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel in Emory.
Junior was born on April 11, 1931, in Lamesa, TX, to John Marion and Iva Gladys Craft House. How ironic that Bro. House was born into this world on the 11th day of April 1931, and that we are going to celebrate his body being laid to rest on the 11th day of April, 2017, on his 86th birthday....HAPPY BIRTHDAY BROTHER HOUSE!!! However...we KNOW that the REAL celebration happened on Friday, April 7th, when he "finished his race", because he had "fought the good fight", and all the while, he "kept the faith"! (Reference to 2 Timothy 4:7)
Junior married Francis Verlene Pounds on May 22, 1953 in Rains County. He provided for his family in many different ways. He and Verlene ran a Texaco service station in Point for more than 20 years. He also was a farmer and loved his cattle. However, the most important endeavor in his life was teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ his Lord, everywhere he went, but he also preached in several churches around the Rains County area.
He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren very much! Papa enjoyed spending time with them anytime and anywhere, but he really loved going to Beaver's Bend and making walking sticks for the kids, or going fishing and frog gigging with them, or sliding them around the farm and through the ditches on an old truck hood in the snow and ice...making memories with his grandkids and they ALL loved him for times like this!
