Joyce Lynn Buckholt

Funeral service for Joyce Lynn Buckholt, age 87, of Emory will be held at 2:00 P.M on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Chapel with Bro. Montie Parker and Bro. Kenneth Ishmael officiating. Interment to follow at Rockdale Cemetery with Casey McMerrell, Ryan Stracener, Caleb Melton, Steve Clark, Brad Chastain and Charlie Petit as pallbearers and Rowdy Stracener serving as honorary pallbearer.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.  Mrs. Buckholt passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Hunt Regional Hospital, Greenville, Texas.

Joyce Lynn was born on August 25, 1934 in Sulphur Springs, Texas to Jessie and Mamie (Spencer) Melton.  She married Bennie Buckholt in Dallas, Texas on January 1, 1965.  Joyce worked as an office administrator and caregiver for several local residents, but her primary role was that of wife and mother.  She will always be remembered for her beautiful flower beds and yard.  She loved to collect birds and spend time with her family and friends. She will also be missed by her little dog, Angel.  She was of the Assembly of God Faith.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Deb McMerrell; grandchildren, Haylea Stracener and husband Ryan, Casey McMerrell; great grandchildren, Shaylee and Rowdy Stracener, Madison and Jadyn McMerrell; nephews, Randy Melton (Theresa), Phillip Bolton (Cindy); nieces, Donna Moore (Mike), Prissy Clark (Steve); great nephews, Caleb Melton and Brandon Moore; many friends, some who have gone before her.

Joyce Lynn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bennie, her only child, Paul McMerrell; grandson, Lucas McMerrell and her three siblings, Jimmy Melton, Sue Fuller and Jessie Bolton.
