In a world characterized by chaos and uncertainty the life of Larry Latham shone as beacon of light. With a career in education, Larry wasn't simply an Educator - he was a wealth of knowledge, a mentor to many, and a protector of the young minds in his care. He had an unwavering commitment to advancing education for all students in his community.
Larry's time on this earth came to a peaceful close on July 17, 2024, in Emory TX. Though his physical body may have departed from the world, his kindness, generosity and selflessness will linger in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
A visitation will be held on Friday July 19, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home with a service following at 11 a.m. interment will be held at Dunbar Cemetery in Emory, Texas
He was Born June 3,1950 to Preston and Elsie Latham (Bolton), in Dallas, Texas. He harbored a deep passion to make everything better than when he found it. His acts of kindness were boundless, and he lived by the mantra of "paying it forward". He had an impressive career in academics, he was an educator, as well as principal in his career. Larry's passion for education was only matched by his thirst for knowledge. multiple degrees and always eagerness to learn more. He approached life with an open mind and a willingness to embrace every opportunity as growth. Whether engrossed in books, tending to his beloved garden or engaging with his community, Larry's commitment to lifelong learning was truly admirable.
Larry was always surrounded by family whom he cherished above all else. His warm smile and infectious enthusiasm touched the lives of everyone that knew him. He possessed a rare gift for teaching people not just within the confines of the classroom but in every interaction - imparting wisdom, empathy, and compassion wherever he went.
He is survived by his sister, Judy Salem; nieces, Melony Block; nephews, Jeff Hanson, John L. Salem, Jake Salem; as well as many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Larry is preceded in death by his Father, Preston Latham and his mother, Elsie Bolton Latham.
As we bid farewell to Larry Preston Latham, let us not mourn the loss of a remarkable individual but celebrate the legacy of love, wisdom, and knowledge that he leaves behind. May his spirit live on in the countless lives and minds he touched - a gentle reminder from Larry, leave everything better than when you found it.
