Larry Wayne O'Neal

Larry Wayne O'Neal, affectionally known as Loco, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on February 8, 2025 after a six- month battle with pancreatic cancer. Larry was born on February 15, 1949, in Oakdale, Louisiana to Odis Roston and Burna Dean O'Neal. He was a devoted family man, an integral part of his community, and spent a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication. He absolutely loved being a member of Lake Fork Baptist Church and was willing to do anything where he may be needed, and was most comfortable being behind the scenes. The most important decision that he ever made was to accept Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and Lord. It is this decision that provides comfort and hope to his family and friends.

For an impressive 46 years, Larry drove an 18 -wheeler for UPS. He traveled five million eight hundred thousand miles accident free. He always had a friendly demeanor and a warm smile to anyone he crossed paths with. He had a unique way of connecting with others, never meeting a stranger and treating everyone he encountered with kindness and respect. His personable nature not only made him beloved among friends and colleagues, but also provided comfort and camaraderie among his fellow drivers.

Before establishing his career, Larry proudly served in the United States Air Force for four years, where he exhibited the same qualities of friendship and warmth that would later characterize his civilian life.

He often credited his family as his greatest blessings, always emphasizing the importance of love, support, and togetherness. Larry and Carolyn were married on June, 26, 1971, and enjoyed their life together for 53 years. He was so proud of their two children Tiphanie and Adam and was head over heels in love with his four grandchildren. They brought him so much joy.

A man of varied interests, Larry found joy being in the great outdoors. While fishing and hunting were delightful pastimes, he really loved being in the woods, on the lake or in the back yard. He found great joy and peace while sitting in silence and marveling at the majesty of God's creation. These times in nature were cherished deeply.

As we remember Larry, we celebrate his legacy of warmth, friendliness, and unyielding love for his Savior, his family and his friends. Though he may no longer walk among us, his spirit will continue to touch the lives of all who knew him, and his cherished memories will forever warm our hearts.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn O'Neal; children Adam Ryan O'Neal and wife Jana; grandchildren, Eleanor Balderson, Axel Balderson, Blake O'Neal and Molly O'Neal; siblings, James O'Neal and wife Kathy, Marlene Tucker and Carla Wyatt and husband David. He is also survived by nephews, nieces, and many cousins.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Odis Roston O'Neal and Burna Dean O'Neal; daughter Tiphanie O'Neal Balderson and brother Fred O'Neal.
