Laverne Robbins age 88, of Emory, passed away early Friday afternoon, March 1, 2019,
in Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab.
She was born July 24, 1930, in Teague, to the parentage of Ruby and Lee Ella Johnson French.
She had several jobs during her lifetime...however, possibly being employed as quality control (taster)
for a large potato chip company in Dallas.....might have been her favorite!
She married Coolidge Robbins in May of 1989 in Arlington.
Laverne was a very joyful lady who never met a stranger..... very outgoing.
She was a member of the Nazarene church while living in Arlington. But, after
moving to Emory, she attended Emory Baptist Church.
A cooker she was... her famous chocolate cake, hash-brown casseroles, her chicken
fried steak, not to forget those Eagle Brand pies with cherries on top,and many other favorite
dishes she was famous for.
She loved her grandchildren and then her great-grandchildren.
Laverne loved life to the fullest! Traveling was another one of her favorite things...
having traveled to the Phillipines, quickly making new friends over there.
She was an avid sports fan. The Texas Rangers in baseball and, of course, the Dallas Cowboys.
She was happy when watching sports on television.
She was a worker, never idol, somewhat of a Proverbs 31 woman in that respect.
Laverne Robbins, generous with her love, quick smiles, and reaching out to others
with whatever they needed will be sorely missed.
She had a gift of serving others.... and she used it.
