Lonnie “Red” Ferrell, 81, of Emory, passed away on March 28, 2024. He was born to Lonnie and Dorothy Ferrell on July 26, 1942, in Dallas, Texas.
He graduated from Malakoff High School in 1960. He married the love of his life, Dianne Ferrell, on March 28, 1975, in Greenville, Texas. Red spent many years as a plant manager and later retired from Wing Industries after 20 years. Red and Dianne spent most of their life together in Caddo Mills. Red was an active member of Mineral Heights Baptist Church in Greenville, where he served in various ministries. After moving to Emory seven years ago, he joined Emory Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed teaching and sharing these activities with his children and grandchildren. Red enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren in school activities and sports. He was always ready to play a game of 42.
Red is survived by his wife Dianne; three sons, Lonnie, Tim, and Chad, and three daughters, Mandy, Shannon, and Lacey; his grandchildren Brandi, Megan, Candi, Tiffany, Dylan, Spencer, Jessica, Dalton, Steven, Eric, Courtney, Jaden, Jacey, and Emma; and 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mark and Dan and one sister, Lola; and numerous other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Tony, Joe, and Kelvin.
