Mary Blanton

Mary Joyce Blanton, age 87, of Emory, passed away in the early evening of Sunday, March 3, 2019, at her home with her loving family surrounding her. Mrs. Blanton was born on June 12, 1931, in Emory to the parentage of Jonathan Ervin and Mary Nettie Richards Potts. She graduated from Emory High School. Joyce married John Alfred Blanton in Oklahoma, on February 6, 1954. Joyce was a wife, then a mother, and with that became a homemaker. She loved to cook, the family said, you never went to her house that there wasn't a pie or cake made. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren, they loved her blueberry pancakes. She was a wonderful lady with a sweet spirit and will be missed by all who knew her. Those left behind to cherish her memories are: husband, John Alfred Blanton of Emory; daughter,r Sonjia Reep of Emory; son, Ronald Paul Blanton, Sr. and wife Darlene of Emory; brother Gerald Potts of Jefferson. Grandchildren 5; Great-grandchildren 8. Numerous other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by: her parents and great-grandson, Wesley Pruitt in 2014.
