Micah was born on March 25, 1995 in Sulphur Springs, Texas to Mark LaDane and Kathy Marie (Goldsmith) Swanson. He married Sabrina Ann Pickard on December 30, 2021 in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Micah worked as a fire fighter and Ems at Gun Barrell City, Ellis County ESD-6, and part time for Hopkins County EMS. He was a volunteer fire fighter for Point and Emory. Micah was a loving father, husband and son, he was also his momma’s hero.
Micah had a passion for being a firefighter and helping others since he could walk and talk. He started fulfilling those dreams at the age of 15 when he became a volunteer at Emory and point fire depts. Micah loved traveling to other departments in the states to help serve others in need through deployments with Medical Jets. When he got his first fire job with Gun Barrell City, I remember him telling me, “I finally did it. I fulfilled my dream.” An equal passion to being a firefighter was being able to be a dad. He loved our children, taught them about God, taught them how to dance, build fires, do all the dad things with them and made sure they knew how big his love was for them.
Growing up, he was saved in early 2008 and baptized the following Easter Sunday. Some of his fondest memories and adventures would be with his cousins, and best friends Joe and Dakota but I think they got into more mischief than anything. Micah was an avid duck hunter and loved camping. He was looking forward to teaching his sons how to hunt and camp.
If you knew Micah, you would know his heart was big and he was full of laughs and that he is very missed and very loved.
Psalm 23:4 “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff they comfort me.”
