Services for Samuel Christopher Sapaugh, 61, will be held on two different dates. The visitation will be Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 6pm to 8pm
located at Hope Family Fellowship Church on 434 Jefferson St. Sulphur Springs, TX 75482. His celebration of life will be on Saturday, May 4, 2024
at 11:00am at The House (formerly House of Blessings). The address is 1515 Sycamore St. Navasota, TX 77868.

Samuel Christopher Sapaugh, affectionately known as Chris, was a talented carpenter who poured his heart and soul into every project he undertook. His career at Wood Butchers, a business he and his brother Tony owned, allowed him to showcase his skills and craftsmanship while working with high-profile clients in Houston. Despite the demands of his job, he never let it overshadow his dedication to his family.
 
 Chris was born in Fort Worth, TX, on September 9, 1962, to parents William (Billy Dan) Sapaugh and Murrell (Melson) Sapaugh, and tragically passed away on March 17, 2024, in Sulphur Springs, TX. Throughout his life, he left an indelible mark on everyone he met with his warm personality and infectious sense of humor. He had a special talent for connecting with people and always spoke fondly of his beloved family.
 
 One of Chris's proudest accomplishments was marrying the love of his life, Betty Ybarra, whom he wed on Christmas Eve in 1992, exemplified true love and partnership. Together, they nurtured three remarkable children and showcased what a harmonious marriage embodied.                                          
 Despite his demanding work schedule during the week in Houston, Chris's passion for his family knew no bounds. Every evening while working away, he would eagerly dial home to spend quality time conversing with his loved ones. Chris made it a point to come home every weekend to be with his family. He adored being a father and was actively involved in his youngest daughter's softball journey, cheering her on every step of the way. For his older kids' band performances, he never missed a show and showed unwavering support.
 
 Chris had an innate creativity that shone through not only in his work but also in his hobbies and interests. He loved golfing, relaxing getaways to the cabin in Broken Bow, and found joy in playing weekly board games with his family. His creative spirit shone through even in the smallest gestures, such as crafting a special Yahtzee board to commemorate victories shared with his cherished wife.

Every St. Patrick's Day was marked by the annual Wood Butcher Golf Tournament—a tradition that brought everyone together and showcased Chris's love for both work and play. His larger-than-life presence made him the life of the party wherever he went, leaving a lasting impression on all those around him.

He leaves behind his wife, Betty, children; Sarah Sapaugh and fiancé Matthew Kahlig, Lucas Sapaugh, and Katie Sapaugh and significant other Travis Woods, brothers; Scott and wife Mary, Steve, and Tony, and multiple nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents, sister-in-law Becky Sapaugh, and all his favorite dogs from his lifetime.
 
 In the peaceful moments before he passed surrounded by the love of his family, Chris's legacy as a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished friend will forever endure. His zest for life, unwavering commitment to those he held dear, and boundless creativity will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will forever be remembered as testaments to a life well-lived.
