A celebration of life for Sheila Goerss will be held, Sunday, September 8, 2024 from 9-11 a.m at Wilson- Orwosky Chapel in Emory, Texas.

Sheila Goerss, a most beloved wife, a dedicated registered nurse and passionate animal rescuer, passed away on September 5, 2024, at the age of 67. Born on January 23, 1957, Sheila was a force of nature, known for her unstoppable energy, zest for life and extreme passion in all her endeavors.

Graduating from Texas Tech with a bachelor’s degree in nursing, Sheila was a registered nurse for 35 years, but she was more than just a skilled medical professional; she was a passionate animal rescuer and lover. Sheila marveled at all God’s creations and was in awe of everything He had created. Her joy for life was infectious, and she had an uncanny ability to find adventure in the simplest of moments, like transforming her truck into a cozy sleeping spot under the stars.

Sheila was a master chef who found joy in cooking and was always willing to share her culinary creations with family and friends. She was also an avid farmer, a title that she was very proud of. An array of hobbies filled her life, including soap making and other crafts, as she was a true jack of all trades. But her favorite was living life and living it to the fullest. Sheila's laughter was infectious, elevating any gathering and creating an atmosphere filled with warmth and joy.

Her proudest accomplishments included her unwavering love and support for her soulmate, best friend, and husband, Jim. They spent 28 beautiful years together building a life and many cherished memories. Sheila cherished their bond; they were each other’s biggest fans when it came to pursuing their passions. Sheila loved and encouraged Jim’s fishing, spending time together with him on the water and his drumming, often having their own private concerts. Their partnership was one of mutual respect, devotion and dedication. Sheila's presence was a constant source of encouragement for Jim, and their bond was a beautiful example of shared dreams and companionship.

A born-again Christian, Sheila's faith illuminated her life, guiding her interactions and the way she approached every challenge. Her spirit of joy and happiness inspired those around her. She embraced life to its fullest. Sheila marveled at all God’s creations and was in awe of everything He had created.

Sheila Goerss will be remembered not just for her impressive career and hobbies, but rather for the love she freely shared, the laughter she sparked, and the lives she touched along the way. Her legacy will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known her.

Sheila is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Jim Goerss; daughters, Katy Goerss and Shannon Hammond; son, Sean Hammond; sister, Sharon Provencio; grandchildren, Joseph, Daniel, Bailey, Bella and Kerrigan.
