Funeral service for Thelma Nabors, of Emory, will be held at Wilson-Orwosky Chapel in Emory on Friday, March 4, 2022, at 11:00 AM.
Thelma Nabors died Thursday, February 24, 2022, at Brookdale Nursing Home in Dallas, Texas. She was Born on December 29, 1931, and just celebrated her 90th birthday. She was a native of Emory, Texas and a long-time resident of Dallas, Texas.
Thelma grew up in Rains County, graduated from Emory High School, and moved to Dallas to pursue a career as a professional secretary. She retired from the Haggar Slacks Company in the early 1970s to take care of her mother in Dallas for the remainder of her life. She enjoyed many vacation trips through her life with her mother, and her pet dog Pixie. She also enjoyed music and her prized piano.
Thelma is survived by five nephews, Jerry Nabors of Blue Ridge, Texas; David Nabors of Malakoff, Texas; Russell Conger, of Amite, Louisiana; Mark Conger of Prairieville, Louisiana; and Steve Conger of Terrytown, Louisiana; and two Nieces, Cynthia Nabors Russell of Corsicana, Texas; and Thelma Jean Nabors Jones of Corsicana, Texas and numerous great nephews and great nieces.
She is preceded in death by her father, Roger Q. Nabors; her mother, Eunice Knight Nabors; her brother, Wilbur Nabors; her sister, Martha Nabors Conger; her nephews, Randall Nabors, Roger Nabors, Ricky Nabors, and Wilbur Nabors, Jr; and her niece Kaye Nabors Wright.
The family would like to thank the staff of Brookdale Nursing Home for the many years of caregiving to Thelma. We would also like to praise the Christian example of Randall Nabors (now deceased) and his daughter, Angel Marksberry, for the many hours of tendered care and commitment to Thelma during her final years. As our Savior Jesus asked us all, Love one another as I have loved you.
