Thomas Lankford

Thomas Dud Lankford, 86, was with his family when he passed away Sunday afternoon, December 15, 2013 at his home in Point.

Funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, 2:00 pm, December 19, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Point. Bro. Keith Cogburn will officiate. Visitation will be held on hour prior to service time at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Lone Star Cemetery.

He married Genell Watts Lankford, of Rains County, on June 3, 1950. They were married 63 years. He was a loving husband, and a devoted father. He loved the lake, especially fishing, and spending time with his family.

He was born on January 15, 1927, in Rains County to Thomas Robert (Dick) and Bertha Stewart Lankford. He was a WWII veteran and served in the US Navy form 1944-1946 on the USS Broadwater. He was a deacon and sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church of Point. He also served on the Point City Council. He retired from the Ford Motor Company.

Daughter: Lisa Lankford of Dallas
Grandchildren: Jeff and Candice Lankford of Fate, Jason and Caroline Lankford of Van Buren, Arkansas, Tim and Blair Lankford of Rockwall, and Kevin Lankford of Austin
Great-Grandchildren: Miller Lankford, Boston Lankford, and Alexa Lankford
Also many nieces and nephews and other loving family and friends.

Preceded in death by: Parents, siblings: Tida Tucker, Jack Lankford, and Norman Lankford

He was dearly loved by many and will be truly missed.
