Graveside service for Thomas Orval Childers, of Emory, will be conducted at 2:00pm, Saturday, November 30, 2013, at Clifton Cemetery. Bro. Wayne Wolfe will officiate. Mr. Childers died at his residence on Tuesday evening. He was 84 years old.
Mr. Childers was born on Jan. 4, 1929, in Emory, to Thomas Adrian and Fleda Williams Childers.
He was a long haul truck driver all of his working career, and a proud member of the Teamsters Union, Local 745.
He served his country, during the Korean Conflict, as a soldier in the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Germany for some time.
Also, Mr. Childers was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include:
Daughters: Pamela Jacks, and Penny Tolleson, both of Emory
Grandchildren: Brandi Jacks, Garrett Jacks, Tonya McAree, Trevor Roberts, and Tanner Tolleson
Great-grandchildren: Colby McAree, and Kaylee McAree
He was preceded in death by his parents, and 1 sister, Mauretta Rollins in 1999.
