William Isaac Newton, affectionately known as “Willie”, was born on October 29, 1960, in Greenville, Texas, to Trula Faye Morrow and John William Newton. Willie lived in Point, Texas most of his life. After a successful career as a Master Electrician for many years, he retired in Emory.
From an early age, Willie expressed a passion for sports. He graduated in the Class of ‘79 at Rains High School, where he actively participated in both football and track & field. His love for sports continued throughout his life as he was a life-long fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers. Willie’s interests extended beyond sports. He was a member of the FFA at Rains High School and he cherished time spent outdoors fishing and hunting with his family and close friends. Anyone who knew Willie, knew his love for his chickens and the countless hours he could spend telling stories of good times breeding and raising them.
Willie’s greatest pride lay in his family and his faith. He was a long-standing member of First Baptist Church of Point where he served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and sang in the church Choir over the years. He loved the traditional Hymns and singing specials to the Lord on Sundays. His Mama was his world and he cherished her until his last breath. Willie took immense pride in raising his two girls, his nieces, Trula and Swan. He watched over them and protected them, while teaching them invaluable lessons such as how to bait a fishing hook and how to drive a car. He made sure to make it to every single sports game and activity of theirs regardless of how many hours he had worked that day. His faith served as a cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and relationships.
Willie passed away on January 10, 2025, in Tyler, Texas. He will be profoundly missed by those who had the privilege to know him, and his legacy of kindness and love will forever remain in their hearts.
